It’s the last day of the Valencian festival of Fallas and here in Xativa we are standing by ready for the last fireworks to be thrown and for the “Fallas” themselves to be lit. If you don’t know too much about Fallas then I can tell you without doubt it’s one of the best things about living here. The Fallas associations have spent all year planning and building their Fallas and most of town becomes pedestrianised as each individual display is assembled in the streets. Children and adults alike queue up outside the firework shops (Pyro Shopping is my favourite) to get their fix of “petardos” and everyone is up for the 4 day party. One the last day all the Falleros and Falleras don their traditional costumes and parade around town before preparing themselves for the last night of the fiestas and the “Crema”; the burning of the Fallas. The party will last all night.
It’s only 8 days until the Easter holidays start and if you are thinking of paying us a visit you may well be surprised to find us open all day. I know that when visiting Spain it can get frustrating to find everywhere closed between 1.30pm and 4.30pm. So, during the easter holidays we will be even open during lunchtime! If you have seen anything on the website you like the look of then email firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll arrange a viewing.
Hope to see you here soon
